THE LAST LOGBOOK

Privacy policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

The short version

This site has no accounts, no database and no server that stores anything about you. The only personal data it ever handles is an email address, and only if you type one into the sign-up form. Analytics run only if you agree to them.

Who is responsible

This site is run by the operator of The Last Logbook, who is the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Contact:hello@thelastlogbook.com.

What is collected

Your email address, if you give it

The sign-up form is provided by Kit (formerly ConvertKit) and sends your email address directly to Kit, which stores it, asks you to confirm, then sends the free guide and a note when a new episode is published. It is never sold, rented or shared.Legal basis: consent, given by submitting the form and confirming it.

Analytics, only if you accept

If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from and which site referred it. IP addresses are truncated before storage. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, GA4 is never loaded and sets no cookies at all.Legal basis: consent.

Server logs

The web server records requests, including IP addresses, for security and to diagnose faults. These logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted.Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.

What is never collected

No accounts, no passwords, no payment details. Purchases happen entirely on Payhip; this site never sees or stores a card number, a billing address or a buyer's name. There is no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no cross-site profiling.

Who else processes it

  • Kit — hosts the sign-up form, stores your email and sends the emails.
  • Google Analytics 4 — page analytics, only with consent.
  • Payhip — handles purchases, including VAT and file delivery.
  • YouTube — embedded videos load only after you click play. Until then no request reaches YouTube and it sets no cookies. Once you click, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Some of these are based in the United States. Transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.

How long it is kept

Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Server logs, 14 days. Analytics data, 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being processed, or withdraw consent at any time. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link at the foot. For anything else, emailhello@thelastlogbook.com and it will be handled within 30 days.

If you are in the UK you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, to your national supervisory authority.

Visitors in the United States and Canada: the same standard applies to you. Your data is not sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising, because there is no advertising here at all. The rights above are offered to every visitor regardless of where they live.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 16, and email sign-ups from under-16s are not knowingly accepted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are announced by email to subscribers.
